Product Review: LUSH Face Masks

Sometimes a home spa treatment is just what I need after a long work week. In times like this, I make a run to my local LUSH store to pick up some essentials. For those of you unfamiliar with this brand, LUSH is a beauty retailer that's based in the United Kingdom. They specialize in cosmetic products handmade from fresh organic fruits, vegetables, and essential oils. Sounds pretty wholesome so far, right?

The face masks are one of my favorite things to splurge on from LUSH. Each face mask from their wide selection serves different purposes so you should be able to find one that suits your skin type (e.g., oily, dry, sensitive). I've personally tried Catastrophe Cosmetic and Oatifix.

Catastrophe Cosmetic is a deep cleansing face mask made from blueberries, calamine, and chamomile oil. Oatifix is made from oats, banana, and ground almonds and works particularly well as a moisturizer for dry skin.

High Marks
First of all, they both smell amazing. You can almost enjoy a little aroma therapy from their luxurious scents. They both also work as intended. Catastrophe Cosmetic always leaves my skin feeling smooth as silk, and Oatifix keeps my skin perfectly moisturized. And although the face masks come in relatively small containers, they can actually last you 1-2 weeks depending on how conservative you are with application.

Low Marks
One of the downfalls to products made from fresh organic materials is that they generally have a shorter shelf life. If you use the face mask on a daily basis, then this shouldn't be a problem. However, if you use it sporadically like me, then just be sure to check the expiration date on the bottom of the container.

All in all these face masks by LUSH are a great way to treat yourself to a mini spa experience for a fair price. Put on your comfiest lounge wear, apply this on your face after a long day, and find a good movie on Netflix. Now that's my idea of paradise.
